Alumni News & Updates

(starting in the fall of 2006 I decided include some of the professional and personal accomplishments of Alumni Members of our many, many Band Scholars - I know we hear of only a small portion of news of this nature - but think it is important to share that of which we know - as our Alumni Band Scholars "make their marks" all over the United States - please share other information and updates as you know of them ... I shall continue to add and update to this list as more information comes in)

 

DG [now known as Dr. Deanna Green] has been named a Pediatric Pulmonary Fellow at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, Baltimore, Maryland

◄Jon Myers has been accepted into Tennessee's newest medical school for the Fall of 2008, the Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine at Lincoln Memorial University.

Dr. Isaac LaRue has been named Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Washington

◄Lucas M. Gravitt has been hired by the Scott County Schools as the new German Teacher at Scott County High and has been hired as the permanent Assistant Director of Summer Programs & Camps at Georgetown College

◄Emily Hales Bennett begins her career as Assistant City Prosecutor in Columbus, OH

SPC Jason A. Reinhardt moves to Korea where is he stationed with the 2nd Infantry Band at Camp Red Cloud

On January 29th - after rehearsal, we had the greatest of treats - a visit by none other than Whit herself. Whitney Gae Castle Harris [currently teaching] and her husband [Andrew, currently finishing medical school] live in Lexington.

In many, many years now of our Tiger Bands, and having had many, many great Band Scholars - a few simply stand out because of their incredible contributions to our special "world".

Whit is one of these rare individuals - and as such - has and always shall have "Gem Alumni" alumni status. What a pleasure to again get to visit with this most remarkable young lady.

Georgetown College ~ Class of 2004

On Friday, September 8th - cherished Band Alumnus Kyle Simon [aka 1st Lieutenant W. Kyle Simon] on leave from his deployment to Baghdad, visited with the Band Scholars.

He shared of his remarkable experiences in Iraq, reminded us of the privilege and blessing we have to live in America and of the importance of a Georgetown Education.

We cannot thank him enough for sharing of his limited time with us.

August 2006 Update

◄Kevin-Wayne [Brown] and his wife Dawn celebrated the arrival of their first child

◄Jesse-Eden [Gabbard] and Miss Melly [Webb] celebrated the arrival of their first child

◄Emily Bennett [Hales] just completed Law School at The Ohio State University and took the Bar Exam

◄Isaac LaRue completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and has been appointed to the faculty at Stetson University

◄Ken Marotte wed Jessie Langlitz; they will live in Columbus where Ken begins his graduate studies at Ohio State

◄Jason A. Reinhardt [and his trusty trombone] has begun his career in the Army Military Band program.

We celebrate with these fine folks, and the many other Alumni members of our Tiger Bands in their significant life’s work and accomplishments.
